can i park on double yellows with Areas of white diagonal stripes painted in the road with a disability badge?
Normally disabled drivers are permitted to park for a limited time in a yellow-line area. At worst this will cause a short delay to passing traffic but is unlikely to cause a hazard or be dangerous.
The white diagonal lines are “ghost islands”. It doesn’t matter whether they’re in the middle of the road or at the side of it. These are protected areas which are intended to separate traffic or keep a sight line clear.
If you park in one of these areas you will be causing a hazard because you will be obstructing driver’s view of what ever junction or bend is being protected. In that case you will not be guilty of a simple parking offence – it will be something more serious, especially if an accident happens, possibly Obstruction.
Please don’t confuse the two parking situations It could be dangerous and will probably bring the blue badge system into disrepute through abuse.
