Three Amazing Players All Guitarists Must Know
There are some guitarists that have left there mark like no other, and some that continue to do so year in and year out even as they age and change their style.
I have my personal favorites and in this article I want to share with you three of them. The three guitar players I’m going to talk about here aren’t bound by style or sound and there not players you’re going to suddenly start to copying even with the best guitar lessons online.
What these artists can do is inspire you to learn their songs and learn their tricks in hopes that you can meld some of what you learn into your very own style on the guitar.
Jimmy Page
Jimmy Page is best known as the amazing guitarist for the four piece blues rock band Led Zepplin. Some of their amazing hits including “Whole Lotta Love”, “Stairway to Heaven” and others illustrate Jimmy’s amazing work on the guitar. If on some off chance you haven’t heard of Jimmy Page before well it’s time to come out from under that rock and start learning your guitar great’s history.
Led Zepplin inspires many beginners to take blues guitar lessons to copy many of the styles Jimmy Page brought to the fore front of Rock and Blues music.
Prior to being the guitarist for Zepplin Page was placed guitar for the Yardbirds along with another amazing guitarist Jeff Beck.
Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton has made himself and the Fender Stratocaster famous for his amazing blues inspired guitar playing. Over the past 20-30 years Clapton has been solo, but prior to that he was with Cream, Derek and the Dominos and also the Yardbird, although prior to Jimmy Page’s arrival.
With a career that has spanned more then fifity years you can get a good idea of his work by looking up songs such as “whiteroom” by Cream, “Lalya” by Derek and the Dominos, and Claptons solo hit “Tears in Heaven” written for his late son.
Jimi Hendrix
I leave the best for last. Jimi Hendrix had an unmatched gift for making the guitar sing. In his short seven year career he made a huge imprint on the landscape of Rock and Roll music and guitar playing, guitarists today still strive to imitate him. From his amazing performance at the original Woodstock concert to many of his notable tracks including: “Purple Haze”, “Hey Joe” and “Little Wing”.
Learning a Hendrix song or two is an experience all in its own and gives a guitarist great respect for just how talented he really was.
