Go Big With A Bold Wedding Gown
Too many brides start gown shopping with a fixed idea of what style they want. Limiting yourself to “safe” gown options can lead to a dull bridal ensemble. A wedding is a great time to break of a rut, push the limits of your comfort zone, and aim for spectacular over safe. Try a bold wedding gown and you might feel more stunning than you ever believed possible.
Some women are interested in fashion and drama, and they are likely to explore many different exciting styles when shopping for a wedding gown. There are many women who are not interested in clothes, or are self-conscious about their figure. Those are the women who are likely to get stuck trying on the same style of wedding dress over and over, only to be left wondering why they are not getting that “wow” feeling from any of the gowns. While it might be okay to wear a “uniform” of the same few basic things in your daily life, taking that approach to wedding gown shopping is going to hold you back from finding a gown that looks so spectacular that it actually takes your breath away.
Curvy brides might think they need to hide under an empire waist or full skirt. How wrong this idea can be! Take a chance, curvy brides, and try on a strapless gown with a drop waist which is fitted throughout your body. Try on a gown with a more slender skirt which emphasizes your hour glass shape instead of hiding it. I once saw a bride try on a strapless gown with a ruched lace drop waist bodice and tiny pearls (to match her pearl earrings) and a bias cut skirt in a heavy satin. She looked amazing, and her waist looked so thin she could’ve been wearing a corset (but she wasn’t!). Did she take advantage of this beautiful dress? Sadly, she didn’t, and chose to hide her body under a “safe” tank dress with an A-line skirt. It was lovely, but not stunning nor memorable, like the tailored gown.. As seen in this case, hiding in your comfort zone can keep you from looking as beautiful are you truly are.
Then there are those brides who have very plain taste. They say, “I want a plain gown, nothing too swanky”. First, it is impossible for a bride to be overdressed for her wedding! If feel like you can’t get all dressed to the nines in a fabulous gown and gorgeous pair of pearl earrings for your wedding day, the chances are that you will never feel like you can in your whole life. Don’t be scared to experiement with embellishments and details, even if it goes against your usual style. Surprise your guests by taking a chance with a spectular gown with beautiful details. One bride I knew always wore khaki pants and a plain button down shirt every single day of her life; she had no instinct for fashion at all. She decided to break out of her “plain Jane” image for her wedding by choosing a silk satin gown with a pearl beaded lace bodice. It was breathtaking on her, and everyone was wowed when they saw how feminine and romantic this young woman could actually be.
Avant-garde and bold wedding gowns can be the most beautiful, if brides will try out something out of the ordinary. If your taste leans towards simple and classic, take a risk and try a bridal gown with a flashy or unique bodice– it might knock your socks off! Perhaps you pictured yourself in a pure white wedding dress, go ahead and try on the pink satin gown from the magazine, it could be the perfect gown for you. The same goes for wedding accessories, by the way. Trade in your everyday pearl stud earrings for a dramatic pair of pearl chandelier earrings or try on a long crystal lariat necklace. If you take a chance and are bold with your bridal attire, you might find a new daring, beautiful side of yourself!
