Can I use fabric glue for ribbons?

Hi, I have a satin grosgrain ribbon that’s starting to fray and I would like to use fabric glue to sort of like seal the edges of the ribbon to stop it from fraying. Has anyone tried this before?
Also would it still be alright to iron the fabric after using the glue?

My second option is actually to use clear nailpolish to seal the edges, do you think that’ll work as well? I can refrain from ironing that part, but I just want to know if I could still launder it later.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

There is a product called “fray-check” that you can buy at any fabric store and sometimes the fabric dept. at wal-mart. It can be washed and is waterproof. Ironing is okay on a low setting.
