Can you bleach a white part of a multi-colored shirt?

I have a white shirt that has a dark blue collar, and dark blue on the end of the sleeves. There’s a part on the front that has a bit of faint yellowing. I’m wondering if I can apply some bleach to that part. My mom wasn’t sure that the bleach wouldn’t then transfer to/fade the colored spots in the washing machine. Help?
