Why is my flower vase water turning pink?

The water in my flower vase keeps turning pink. Many of the flowers are pink, but I’ve never had this happen before. I keep changing the water, but it doesn’t take long before the water turns pink again. Is this normal? Does it mean something is wrong with my flowers?

This is algae. The next time you change the water in your vase, scrub the inside out with a bit of bleach. Rinse really well. When you refill with water, before putting the flowers in, add one or two drops of bleach to the water and mix well. Do NOT add any more than that – it will kill your flowers. But the bleach will keep the algae from growing.
