These essential oils are natural pest repellant and they are very effective in treating dog’s fleas and ticks too.

Natural oils can be rubbed on the dogs hair every hour to maintain the oil’s effectiveness. Others prefer to combine these essential oils to dog’s wash. Some dog owners choose to spray these essential oils to their dog’s collar.

Juices and Spices – Natural juices such as lemon juice and aloe vera juice are very effective in getting rid of dog fleas and ticks. Try mixing one of these juices to cayenne pepper, a common household spices. The mixture is an effective flea-killing spray. Moreover, 1 cup of aloe Vera juice mixed with 1 drop of any essential oils is also efficient in killing ticks and fleas.

Diatomaceous earth – This is a natural sedimentary rock that is recognized for its insecticide properties. It is effective in treating ticks and fleas without leaving damaging side effects to dogs. Ticks and fleas eat diatomaceous earth, but little did they know, it will cause them to dehydrate and eventually die. Diatomaceous earth can be directly rubbed against the dog’s coat or it can be crushed and be used as natural flea powder.

Flea comb – This is very useful in getting rid of dog’s fleas. Use it as a regular comb and dip it into a soapy water to dislodge the fleas. Some dog owners instead of dipping the comb into soapy water, they use juice and spice sprays like those mentioned earlier.

Dogs in general suffer from flea infestation. Although it is endemic, it is treatable and preventable. Nevertheless, be careful when using synthetic medications because they contain ingredients that are dangerous to pet. As an alternative, use natural treatments and home remedies to eradicate fleas safely and efficiently.
