Great Gifts For The Expectant Mother

If you know someone who is expecting a baby, here are some great ideas to give the expectant mom for her upcoming baby shower. You can team up with a friend to purchase one of the larger gifts or stick with something a little less expensive.

If you know the new mom will be breastfeeding, a breast pump is an excellent gift. If she plans to go back to work soon after the baby is born, she will need a pump in order to continue breastfeeding. Even if she is not planning on returning to work, a breast pump can help relieve pressure when there is too much milk in the breasts. Pumping the breasts can also help increase milk production so that there is always enough for the baby.

If you want to get the best breast pump for your friend, you should choose a double electric breast pump. Electric pumps are usually faster and have more suction than battery-operated or manual pumps. Also, if manual pumps are used often they can cause soreness in the hands and wrists.

For the non-breastfeeding mother, how about a gift basket filled with products to help her pamper herself? After months of not feeling very pretty, products such as scented shower gel, skin care cream and scented oil are sure to be welcome. You could also put together a manicure and pedicure kit with all of the essential tools and a nice selection of polishes.

For the baby, one good idea is to purchase a baby bath tub and fill it with basic baby supplies such as baby powder, baby shampoo and baby oil. These are things that will all be needed when the baby comes, and it won’t cost a lot to put this gift together if you’re on a budget.

For something a little more memorable, a diaper cake is a great choice. If you have never seen a diaper cake, picture a wedding cake made by rolling diapers together to form the layers. Once you have each layer completed, secure it with a rubber band and tie a ribbon around each layer. Use a baby item to top it off and you’ve got a beautiful and practical baby gift.
